She Made One Decision – and Overcame Her Diagnoses

Summary

Diagnosed with PTSD at age 16 without finding treatments that worked (put on SSRIs and pharmaceuticals that made her worse and caused weight gain, becoming more depressed), by her 20s she was suffering badly with fibromyalgia coming on where she could barely walk to her coffee break at work. At 27 she was diagnosed with adenomyosis where every time her cycle started the pain was comparable to going into labor - spending a couple days in bed screaming in pain, getting so much pain she would throw up, turning into a two-week-long stomach issue that controlled her life between the PTSD and adenomyosis requiring her to plan everything around when her cycle would start. Combined with being triggered all the time in public from the PTSD mental health issues, she was spending most of her life in bed at that point. A friend suggested Dr. Joe's retreats which she saw as just a wellness retreat to meditate and find her ground with no intention of healing until she got there and saw her same diagnoses posted on the screen, realizing in that moment "oh my god, I'm going to heal this week" and recognizing she had become a complete victim to her life. She made the choice to no longer let the diagnosis, fear, or traumas rule her life anymore, and slowly throughout the week felt different things being released after every meditation, texting her best friend "I'm a whole new woman" after each one and truly believing it. Serendipitously she started her cycle on the day the retreat ended with no symptoms, and all symptoms from both the PTSD and adenomyosis disappeared and have never come back since.
