Summary

Suffered chronic back pain for four years with three near-surgeries managed by medication, pain worsening with radiation to leg constricting mobility, worst moments unable to sleep in any position and needed help getting out of car like old person. During retreat intellectually and experientially understood concept of future self versus past self with memories embedded in body, created mind movie with pictures of desired flexible self and felt emotions of that reality. Witnessed old man arrive on wheelchair now walking with cane "for insurance not support," realized "if he can do it then I can do it" creating breakthrough moment. During walking meditation left old back at hotel, caught up in process barely hearing instructions, saw future self demonstrating flexibility inviting him forward, experienced spontaneous complete pain elimination, spine felt greased and lubricated moving smoothly and softly.
